Does the Atkins Diet work?

Learn how to diet effectively and lose weight

Postby Marianna » Tue Apr 14, 2009 2:29 pm

Atkins was good for about 4-5 years of reversed aging when I started. When I started vs a year later there was a lot less gray in my hair in addition to the 35-40 pounds lost.

so anyone had success with the Atkins Diet?

I don't think it will work if you don't count calories same as with any diet. I know a lot of people that say it works for them, but I eat almost the opposite of an Atkins diet, and am very thin and healthy (far as I know). I eat no meat whatsoever, almost no fat, no cholesterol and mostly vegetables and grain like oatmeal, farina, grits, oats and bread, with a few egg whites thrown in for added protein.

I do count calories very closely though. I'm sure if you count your calories well after determining how many you can consume, you will lose wt. on the Atkins diet.

Often market people try and sell their diets by claiming outright or tacitly that you can eat whatever you want as long as you do X, Y and Z, which is often something rather farfetched. That never works, and if you count calories, any diet works.
